As a broad 2026 Waikato guide, a ground-level treated-pine deck commonly runs from around $400–$550 per square metre, hardwoods like kwila sit higher, and composite decking is higher again on materials. In whole-project terms, a modest ground-level deck often lands somewhere between $8,000 and $15,000, while a larger elevated deck with balustrades, stairs and a roof or pergola can run to $20,000 or well beyond.
